Make The Most Of Fall Fly Fishing With The Right Sunglasses

Posted by Adrian Doggrell on Sep 23, 2015 9:37:00 AM

If any of you are fly fishermen, you may already know this, but fly fishing in the fall is amazing. The fish are hungry. The food is plentiful, and the water is usually a bit lower, making the trout easier to spot. Even better is the fact that there is less traffic on the water in fall. Living in Colorado, we share our incredible natural resources with travelers from all over the world. This is a great thing as much of our state makes a living off the tourists, but the overcrowding can also be a bummer. I don’t know if any of you have tried to ski Vail over President’s Day Weekend, but unless you get up on the hill super early, you are going to be waiting in some pretty nasty lift lines. Similarly, you can experience this traffic on the water during the warmer months. Either you are waiting for a parade of rafts to pass, or you are hoping that the goober who beat you to the river will find a new hole. Luckily for us locals, most of these travelers pass through during summer and winter, so we locals have a couple months to ourselves.

Polarized Sunglasses Are Needed Year Round

Posted by Adrian Doggrell on Dec 12, 2014 9:30:00 AM

I admit that everyone probably doesn’t agree on this, but I am a big believer in polarized sunglasses. They provide an extra level of protection to your eyes in the same frame. It is like wearing a pair of pants with the underwear already built in. Wait. That is a bad example, but you know what I mean.

Embracing Winter in Colorado Means Cool Beanies for Your Head!

Posted by Adrian Doggrell on Oct 31, 2014 9:00:00 AM

Living in Colorado, I experience less season change than I would like. It happens incredibly quick, and if I dont pay attention, I will miss it. I sure did this year because I didn't realize that fall and winter are rolling together these days. It used to be that we had seasons. Summer would be followed by fall. Winter would be followed by spring. These days it seems the spring and fall seasons have just fallen by the wayside. Every year they seem to get shorter and shorter. They used to be a whole season long. They take up a quarter of the year in some places. Unfortunately, these days, it seems like they may last only a couple days in Colorado. I am not sure if it is just me or whether winter is actually getting greedy and stealing days from spring and fall.

I Am Not Cheap: I Just Don’t Like to Spend a Lot of Cash on Sunglasses

Posted by Adrian Doggrell on Jan 24, 2014 11:30:00 AM

Up until last year, I tried to wear fancy sunglasses. I say “tried” because I always ended up losing or breaking them. I became so sick of spending a lot of money on glasses just to end up without them that I stopped wearing them. I thought you couldn’t get a decent pair of sunglasses without spending an arm and a leg, but it turns out I was wrong. Apparently there is a brand of sunglasses that are both quality and affordable. I didn’t know that existed before I tried on a pair of Pugs, but wouldn’t you know it, they exist. I thanked my friend who introduced me to them by buying him a pair, something I never would have been able to afford before Pugs. Now, I see the world in a whole new light, thanks to my cheap sunglasses.

Everyone Needs Lots of Sunglasses, Especially If They Are Affordable

Posted by Adrian Doggrell on Jan 12, 2014 1:30:00 PM

I am a firm believer that everyone is in need of at least three pairs of sunglasses. In other words, if you only have one pair, you are behind. Everyone is different, but for me, I have a few different needs. I need polarized sunglasses for when I am hanging out by water. I need a good athletic pair for biking and running and golfing. They need to be able to stay on my face when I am bouncing all around. Finally, I need a solid casual pair that I can wear with my outfits when I go out or to work. Luckily for me, I can get all of these styles for cheap online at the Pugs website. Feel free to check out their new stuff.

Pugs Beanies Will Do More Than Keep You Warm

Posted by Adrian Doggrell on Dec 16, 2013 10:00:00 AM

For any of you readers who live in Colorado, you understand that the weather isn’t always predictable. We don’t have the same consistencies as people who live in most other areas. Just because it is the wintertime doesn’t mean it will be cold today. It could, but it may be warm and sunny. Just because it is sunny right now doesn’t mean it won’t be storming in twenty minutes. And just because it is beautiful and warm in Denver doesn’t mean the mountains aren’t blizzarding. In Colorado, we have to be prepared for intense weather shifts. Because of this, we are forced to bring a warm beanie when we go on adventures.

Don't Be a Fool. Protect Your Eyes With Polarized Sunglasses

Posted by Adrian Doggrell on Nov 29, 2013 10:30:00 AM

Many people are informed about the effects of too much sun exposure. We wear long clothes and hats, and we reapply sunscreen multiple times per day to prevent from getting so much sun, but often people forget about protecting their eyes. They figure that as long as their eyes aren’t blinded with light, they must be fine. Unfortunately they are quite wrong. The sun can damage your eyes just as easily as it can damage your skin, and sometimes you won’t notice until it is too late.

Most of the negative effects are minor and temporary, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get seriously injured from too much sunlight. The sun can cause problems ranging from light wrinkles to blindness and even cancer. Read below to learn the different ways the sun can negatively affect your eyes, and hopefully you will remember to bring your polarized sunglasses with you from now on.
