Taking a guys winter sports trip is an annual highlight for many men. Getting away from work, cabin-fever, and the usual ho-hum of life for a few days in the snow is an adventure worth saving up for. To select this list of the three best destinations for a guy’s trip, we narrowed the list using certain criteria. First, locations need to be in the USA or Canada for both economic reasons and to make the best use of time. Second, the accommodations need to be worth their value in terms of amenities, atmosphere, and overall comfort. And finally, there need to be some manly apres activities other than skiing/snowboarding for those who need a break from the slopes. So, here's the list of our top 3 picks for guys winter adventure locations:

Telluride, Colorado (USA)

Telluride is a great winter guys trip destination for several reasons. The terrain is amazing, the conditions are often just right for skiing and snowboarding, and the village offers several dining and nightlife options to keep it interesting. Its rural setting ensures plenty of opportunity for the roaming spirit too.

The 8725ft - 13150ft elevation of the ski mountain offers runs from green to black. Although no double black runs are available, there are several places outside the resort to do backcountry advanced winter sports. Private tour guides are available to assist in finding the perfect spot. Additionally, Silverton is just a short drive away for those who seek a thrilling expert-only experience.

For accommodations, the Lumiere Hotel is hard to beat. This 4-star facility offers ski-in/ski-out access, several dining options, and lots of personalized touches.

In the village, restaurants and bars abound. Find cuisine from all ethnicities and price points.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming (USA)

Jackson Hole is an snow adventurers dream vacation. With some of the steepest slopes in North America, the runs are varied and exhilarating. The lift system is top quality and the waits are usually not too long, even during peak season.

All levels of thrill-seekers find Jackson Hole to be an all-around enjoyable spot to suit a range of interests amongst the guys on your trip. The town of Jackson is itself an exciting destination. Everything from art and cinema to buckin' cowboy bars exists for entertainment. The airport makes getting in and out a breeze, with plenty of shuttles and transportation options available.

Accommodations and dining options are available for any budget -- hostels, hotels and motels, and 5-star resorts.

Banff, Alberta (Canada)

With three major ski resorts in one area, Banff offers plenty of options for riders who want varied terrain and a wide assortment of runs. The resorts of Lake Louise, Mt. Norquay, and Sunshine Village each offer an array of beginner to advanced runs.

For an interesting place to stay, go with the Deer Lodge near Lake Louise. This chateau-style lodge really gives a certain rustic ambiance that's perfect for a guys group.

February and early March are the best times to visit this area for optimal snow conditions. For days when the powder isn't ideal for hitting the slopes, try ice-fishing December through April.

Word of advice: rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle to drive yourself from Calgary airport to the resorts. This way you you're always free to take off on an adventure without relying on other transport systems.

Which of these three will you pick for your next guys ski adventure?
