Are Your Biker Goggles Protecting Your Eyes?

Posted by Alex Repola on Feb 28, 2014 8:00:00 AM

The two things you don’t want to do when you are riding your motorcycle are to strain your eyes or grow fatigued. So  when you are riding, you will want to wear the best goggles to protect your eyes from the sun, insects, dust, and debris so you can have a safe and comfortable ride.

Ultra-violet protection is a great feature to have because it protects your eyes from the sunlight. UVA wavelengths (320-400 nm) are only slightly affected by ozone levels. Most UVA radiation is able to reach the earth's surface and can contribute to tanning, skin aging, eye damage, and immune suppression. UV 400 Protection lenses are engineered to block 100% of all harmful blue light up to 400 nanometers. Biker goggles with UV 400 offer the best protection while riding.

A Rider's Right to Protect His Eyes

Posted by Marc Herschberger on Jan 30, 2014 8:30:00 AM

Every biker should have at least two different pairs of sunglasses with two very different sets of lenses, but most do not.  When people talk about motorcycle riding glasses, they often think of the middle of the day in the desert, with the wind whipping sand and dirt up into their eyes.  That’s great; most people have a pair just for that occasion, but what about the other times in the day where dark sunglass lenses can be a detriment?  What about low light situations where there still may be light, but not enough to warrant your normal motorcycle goggles?

Have you heard of yellow or amber lenses?  These particular lenses help to absorb UV and blue light, resulting in a much brighter view for the wearer, no matter if the sun is out or the fog is rolling in.  These lenses are best used during the less lit times of the day, such as dawn and dusk, but can also be broken out during cloudy or stormy days.  Now of course these lenses aren’t perfect for every situation, and that’s why we recommend the second pair of glasses that best protect your eyes during those hot, sunny days.

Posted by Nathan Miller on Jan 10, 2014 9:13:00 AM

Skiing and snowboarding are both really fun activities. What’s great about both of these snow sports is you never have to worry about them getting boring. When you’re a beginner, you’ll be plenty challenged by simply focusing on staying vertical as you go down the side of a mountain. As your skills progress, you’ll be able to tackle bigger slopes that result in you flying down with more speed. And as you go along with either snow sport, you will continue to pick up a wide range of new techniques and tricks.

Posted by Marc Herschberger on Aug 26, 2013 7:00:00 AM

Riders are their own breed, always have been.  Whether the open road is your playground or mounds of dirt and 50 foot jumps, your bike is your way of life and the gear you wear on it needs to fit your lifestyle.  For those of us that ride, you’ll know that the gear you need for when you’re on your bike has to be special.  Your boots need to be just a bit tougher than most, your gloves strong enough to win a fight against asphalt and your motorcycle goggles and sunglasses a mixture of style, versatility and comfort.  Those three elements are key when it comes to riders choosing their next pair of motorcycle glasses and here’s a better explanation why they need each one of them.
