It can be tough to get creative around Halloween when you are deciding on your costume. Fortunately there are a lot of easy DIY costumes that you can make right from your own closet. Piecing together a funny or scary costume can be really simple. Everyone has a costume laying around in their closet without knowing about it. You just have to look a little deeper and think creative and simple. Here are a few ideas to thinking about over the next week.

Where’s Waldo?

This is a classic costume that is incredibly easy to do. All you need is a red and white striped t shirt, a pair of jeans, some boots (or any brown shoes), and a red and white striped beanie. Glasses and a cane are optional but give a more authentic look. For those day time party goers, a good pair of retro sunglasses can add some flair to the costume as well.

This one is a holiday favorite that will keep you warm if the fall weather takes a turn. A warm flannel shirt, a pair of jeans, some work boots, and a warm beanie is all you need to make this character come to life. If you don’t have a beanie, any good winter hat will work and can add some personal style to this costume. This costume can work well for guys and gals alike.

Risky Business

We have all wanted to look like Tom Cruise and slide across the floor like he did in the movie. Throw on your best “tighty-whities”, a dress shirt, some dress socks, and some retro sunglasses to complete the awesome look. You’ll be ready to rock to that old time rock n roll. This is a great costume for both guys and gals to steal the show at their Halloween party this year.

Blues Brothers

Just grab a buddy, throw on a suit and tie, put on a fedora, add some retro sunglasses, and hit the dance floor. You’ll be moving and grooving like Jake and Elwood. This a great costume for best friends or even the fun couples out there that are looking to mix it up. The best part of this idea is the characters that you get to play. Who wouldn’t have fun pretending to be Jake and Elwood?

Three Blind Mice

The last one that I didn’t cover is the group costume. Grab a couple gals for this fun team project. Wear some black pants, a black top, and paint on some whiskers and a black nose, and some ears. It’s easy to find a headband with ears. To complete the look add some big framed sunglasses.

As you can see, there are some great options out there. If you don’t like these suggestions, try a hybrid like, Risky Blues Brothers and become Elwood with no pants. Many Halloween party goers will spend money at costume shops to create their characters. With a little bit of creativity and a good idea, you can steal the show without spending a dime.
