One of the most enjoyable winter sports is ice skating. Ice skating can be enjoyed by the entire entire family, one of the reasons it is so popular when children are younger. But if there is anything better than skating at the local rink, it would be trying out one of the rinks at these amazing locations.

#1. Rockefeller Center, New York City

This is perhaps one of the most famous skating rinks in America. Despite the fact that it is in the middle of Manhattan, the rink itself is extremely quiet and peaceful. It’s especially nice in December whenever the giant Christmas tree is lit up during the holiday season.

#2. Yosemite National Park, California

When you think of ice skating, Yosemite National Park probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind. However, this park is known for having one of the most scenic ice rinks in the country, being surrounded by the Half Dome and El Capitan. You can enjoy skating in Yosemite from November through March, so be sure to get there soon.

#3. National Gallery of Art Sculpture, Washington, D.C.

Situated near the National Mall, this ice rink provides views of many iconic landmarks, and is also surrounded by numerous sculptures. The rink is open from November through March, and group and individual skating lessons are available for a nominal fee.

#4. Leon Black Family Ice Rink, Beaver Creek, Colorado

If you’re looking for year-round skating, visit the Beaver Creek Ski Resort. This facility hosts special events such as Family Night at the Firepits and American Jukebox skate nights. The ice rink is in the resort’s village, making it easy to combine skating with shopping or dining. So if you are planning a winter vacation soon, perhaps add Beaver Creek to the list.

#5. Central Park, NYC

There are actually two skating rinks in Central Park: the Trump-Wollman rink on the south side and the Lasker rink to the north. Both rinks offer views of the Manhattan skyline, in addition to ice skating lessons and hockey, and it may be reserved for private parties or group outings.

Outdoor ice skating requires you to have the right gear such as sunglasses and hats for protection from the elements. Visit Pug’s to see the stylish and affordable selection they have available for you.
